Coyote Valley Trail: Peaceful Place (During Daytime)
![]() |
| My favorite picnic site by the Coyote Valley Trail. First row view of Kawuneeche Valley and the Never Summer Mountains - Photo taken in the fall of 2025. |
This trail follows an infant Colorado River - narrow and shallow - in the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Short, easy wide path - one mile long. There were farms in this valley, but now the elks took over. Loud and messy after sunset. And yes, coyotes also love to come at night ("Coyote Valley" is a translation of the American Indian name: Kawuneeche).
Where is the Coyote Valley Trail? - Map my location.
