The Day of the Elks

Rut season in the Rockies. Bulls are bulging through the Kawuneeche Valley in the western part of Rocky Mountain National Park - "Kawuneeche" is "Valley of the Coyote" for the Arapahoe Indians. The high-pitched sounds of the elks travel far. Eerie mixes of whistle and scream. Wild concerts for five camping nights in Timber Creek Campground. Only the arrivals of coyotes brought some silence.
