Moraine Park

| I took this view of Moraine Park from the summit of Deer Mountain in the fall of 2025. Bear Lake Road can be seen on the left side. |
After a morning hike in Bear Lake Area, I went for a look of Moraine Park, the glacially carved valley accessible via Bear Lake Road. The "Moraine Park" name comes from the parallel ridges (moraines) of old glacial debris bordering the big meadow. This valley was settled but didn't produce much. It was reinvented as a tourist destination and fared better. The area was closed to hiking because of the elk rut season. I saw a herd with the binoculars.
