Bromelia balansae: The painted bromeliad called "heart of flame"

That's what came to my mind the first time I saw one. It was like if someone painted the bromeliad with an intense red oil paint. This South American plant resembles a pineapple. They get this bright red when are ready to bloom - the fruit is orange. It's known as "heart of flame". Tropical colors, right?
