The favorite song of President Abraham Lincoln

May be a surprise to many that one of the favorites songs of Honest Abe was "Dixie" - also known as "Dixie's Land" or "I Wish I Was in Dixie".

I say "surprise" because this song was adopted during the Civil War as a de facto national anthem of the Confederacy - together with "The Bonnie Blue Flag" and "God Save the South".

Lincoln had been quoted as saying, 'I have always thought "Dixie" one of the best tunes I have ever heard.'

Check the old article, "If Abraham Lincoln Had An iPod."
