Hornbek Homestead: A Time Capsule Near a Field of Fossils

Old house and farm from 1878 neighboring the famous fossils of Florissant - check previous post. It belonged to Adeline Hornbek, mother of four that, after losing two husbands and two homes, moved to the Florissant Valley and filled a homestead claim. She built this house and nine outbuildings within seven years. What a spirited pioneer of Colorado!
