| Sunset on the road to the Rollins Pass. |
High mountain crossing in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Narrow and twisting rough road ~14 miles long from the town of Winter Park (west access to the pass). Elevation: 11,676 feet @ summit. Before known as the Boulder Pass, it was renamed for the Colorado pioneer John Quincy Adams Rollins. In the 1900s was the route of the Moffat Road. Needle's Eye tunnel has been closed for decades. Amazing sunset and snacks surrounded by alpine tundra. Moon rising. Mesmerizing coldness. The dilapidated bridge. Returning at night, a big moose on the road. Wild Colorado.
