Poudre Lake in Milner Pass

The waters of Poudre Lake at Milner Pass mirroring the skies and colors of the fall in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2025.
Poudre Lake at Milner Pass. The French name comes from the Cache la Poudre River. Originates from a legend about French fur trappers caught by a storm in the early 1800s that buried their gunpower at the riverbank to light the wagons. I took this photo in the fall of 2025.

Another spot of the Continental Divide inside Rocky Mountain National Park. Elevation: 10,759 feet (3,279 meters). Poudre Lake happens to be there. Most people stop by the sign in the parking lot for an insta picture. A walk by the lake and the towering boulders hidden by a dense forest of pines in the Ute Trail are better options.
