Nymph Lake

Wide shot of Nymph Lake around noon.
I took this photo coming back to the trailhead. It was too dark when we hiked close to its shores that morning.

Small and beautiful. This is the first lake accessed from the Bear Lake Trailhead of Rocky Mountain National Park. It's at 9,698 feet (2,956 meters) elevation. In summer, yellow pond lilies take over the waters. In winter, ice is the lord of this area. The name "Nymph" is for the lilies (Nymphaea polysepala).
