Lake Haiyaha

Photo of Lake Haiyaha taken from a boulder on the shores.
Boulders' paradise in this water hole of the Rockies.

Another alpine lake in Chaos Canyon close to Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Here all is about big boulders (very rocky place that demands some scrambling). The name "Haiyaha" means "rock" or "big rocks" in a Native American language. This lake is at 10,240 feet elevation. Less crowded than the others in this area (it's farther away).
