Bear Lake

| Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. |
The most accesible lake (just steps from the trailhead parking lot). The loop trail around is ~1 mile. It didn't impress me much. Probably because I favor the challenging destinations (Emerald Lake is my favorite here). Bear Lake is at 9,450 feet (2,880 meters) elevation beneath Hallett Peak and close to the Continental Divide. It was called "Bear Lake" after an incident in 1912 when a hunter unexpectedly encountered a bear by the lake.
