Hiking to the Castle Rock Butte

The point where the two trails that access Castle Rock join.
The famous rock and the bifurcation of the access trails.

The monolithic butte looks like a castle from a distance. Took the Summit Trail to the base of the rock and descended through the Perimeter Trail (the easiest path). Great views of the Castle Rock town from up there. Elevation: 6,590 feet. The boulder is volcanic rhyolite. Age: ~37 million years. We humans are tiny dust lost in time and space.
