Relics: Old Tools that Still Work

| Kerosene lamp in Bluff Fort, Utah. |
A lot of simple stuff helped to "make" the West. I found many oldies in Utah by the Four Corners. The place is called Bluff (the town has less people now than when the Mormons arrived in 1880). Its restored Mormon fort keeps alive the tales of the Hole-in-the-Rock Expedition and many old items from the settlers (seventy families). The classic kerosene lamp was invented in 1853 by Ignacy Ćukasiewicz. They still work (a good source of light when the s — t hits the fan).
