Pigeon Queen: Royalty in the World of Birds

Close up in black and white of the stunning Victoria crowned pigeon.
My best portrait of the royal Victoria crowned pigeon.

The picture doesn’t make sense in black and white because the magic is in the red eyes, bluish-grey plumage, deep maroon chest, and white-tipped blue feathers in the distinctive fan-shaped crest. Striking elegant bird that was named after the famous queen (whole name: Victoria crowned pigeon or Goura victoria if you prefer scientific nomenclature). This is a lazy queen that chooses to walk rather than fly. I found it in an American zoo (no money to travel to the forests and swamps of New Guinea).
