Anthropomorphic Toys

Old Chevron anthropomorphic toy from the collection of the 1990s.
One of the old Chevron cars from the home collection. A smiling oldie.

Remember the smiling Chevron cars? Cute anthropomorphic toys and a great advertising campaign from the 1990s. It made me fill gas in Chevron stations and buy the smiling toys for the kiddos. The craze began in 1995 with commercials of talking cars (created by the agency Young and Rubicam). A show of colors, personalities, and emotions. The campaign was designed for children but captured adults also. The profitable spirit of collecting came out of the bottle. The thing ended in 2011 (a year after the launch of Instagram). Then came the film franchise Cars from Pixar. Was it inspired by the success of the Chevron cars? Probably. In summary, anthropomorphic marketing works. Putting emotions into inanimate objects connect them to humans. Great for the sellers.
