Anhinga Drying Feathers

Close up of an anhinga drying its feathers in the Everglades.
Anhinga in the Everglades, Florida.

I took the picture in the Everglades circa 2013. The snake bird is really flexible. Amazing how it bends and twists its neck. The word “anhinga” comes from an indigenous group of Brazil. Means "devil bird" or "snake bird". They swim well underwater. Beautiful birds of the swamp.
