One can’t go wrong taking photos in the ghost towns of the West. Bodie is not different. A classic. Many things didn’t change at this elevation. Same remoteness, same rugged climate, same bumpy road. Yep, people are gone. And the ruins? Well, falling apart in their "arrested decay" (which at least keeps them original). The town tale began with W. S. Bodie, or Body, or Bodey (nobody agrees on the real name) finding gold here. The place grew and grew until mining ceased and neglect and fires took care of the buildings. Bodie got the title of "the most dangerous place of the West" thanks to the article "The Bad Man from Bodie" from a newspaper of San Francisco. It quoted (or misquoted) a girl moving to town:
Goodbye, God. We’re going to Bodie!
Media is a powerful thing. Don't you think?
